Keith Brown, the district manager for Houchens Industries, said they noticed a need for employment in the area, and wants to do what they can for the employees.
“We are looking for bright energetic people who want to have fun at work,” explained Brown. “Everybody says they are looking for a job, and we are trying to do what we can to help them.”
Brown feels the nostalgia of Sonic and the good food is why people like it so much.
“The atmosphere will get you to come here, and the food will keep you coming back,” said Brown. “We have a niche in a field that makes us unique.”
Hours of operation will be Sunday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 6 a.m. to midnight.
The new design, different from the last Sonic that was in Leitchfield, will have a drive-thru and outside patio area for people to enjoy.
Brown added, “The main goal for the newer design is to have a brighter cleaner look. We could conceivably extend hours of operation, but it will be based on customer habits.”
He said Sonic wants to work closely with the schools and non-profit organizations.
“We do Carhop for Cash,” explained Brown. “The teachers car hop and serve food to their customers. We did this last year in Bardstown, and the teachers raised over $1,000 for their school.”
Brown said the new Sonic will open on September 11 at 11 a.m.
