Getting physical is often fun and Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center has announced plans for a day of fun and activities.
The hospital will sponsor the first-ever ‘Let’s Get Physical” day to promote an active lifestyle and have some fun too.
On Saturday, September 13 there will be several events at the Leitchfield Park designed to promote having fun while participating in a variety of physical activities.
The events will begin at 8 a.m.
The hospital sees its role as more than a provider of healthcare services.
“We know that the more active a person is, the better quality of life he will enjoy,” said Chief Operating Officer Denice Clemons. “We hope the planned activities will encourage people to find ways to incorporate physical activities into their lives.”
There will be a variety of events designed for the younger generation of Grayson County.
“When children are encouraged to find ways to stay physically active, statistics show they have fewer health problems not just now but for the rest of their lives,” said Leitchfield pediatrician Dr. Joseph Lee.” I can not overstate how important it is for our children to become active and stay active.”
A 1.1 mile run, and 2.2 mile fun walk, as well as a cornhole tournament, softball tournament and a sharp shooter basketball competition are a few of the activities planned for the day.
“While prizes will be awarded,” said Clemons. “The goal of the day is much bigger. We want to help our community take shape.”
All proceeds from the daylong event will go to the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center make a difference day activities in October. Look for an ad in the News-Gazette for more information on the Make A Difference Day.
