Officials announced on Monday night that city hall would be the location of the 100-year celebration for Clarkson.

Mayor Bonnie Henderson said a quilt art design, highlighting the history of the city, would be unveiled on September 20 at 6 p.m.

Older photos of the town from years past will also be showcased inside city hall for public viewing, and refreshments will be served.

In other city business:

• City commissioners discussed the partial closing of two local streets, allowing for a better flow of school traffic for the new elementary school.

Commissioner Keith Higdon said this would involve closing half of Second and Skaggs Street.

City Clerk and Treasurer Alicia Hayes added the school board must petition to close the streets first before it official, because the property on both sides is owned by the Board of Education.

•The Lyons Club was approved to have a roadblock fundraiser during Labor Day weekend.
