After much anticipation Sonic Drive-In is coming back to Leitchfield and it will be opening its doors in August.

Director of Property and Store Development for Houchens Industries Tim Rich said officials were looking forward to the restaurant’s opening (located on Elizabethtown Road between Napa Auto Parts and Fort Knox Federal Bank).

“We do not have an actual date as of yet, but we are looking at the end of August,” explained Rich. “We have made a significant investment to bring Sonic back to the area.”

According to Rich the business will employ about 30-35 people.

The building will have a much newer design than before. Sonic Corporation has eliminated the neon and went with a much cleaner look.

The Leitchfield Sonic will have an arch canopy in front with a covered patio, 20 stalls, state-of-the-art computer systems, drive up window, and a drive-thru.

Customers will also be able to order items and pay for them right at the same window.

Rich said the corporations main purpose is to bring back the 50’s type drive-in style for families to enjoy.
