Firemen were not able to save a Leitchfield man’s home on Friday morning after it became engulfed in flames.

The Leitchfield Fire Department responded to a fire at the home of Johnny Wilson located at1344 Shrewsbury Sadler Road in Leitchfield.

According to fire chief Carl Smith, Wilson came home from a neighbor’s house at 1:30 a.m. on May 23 and heard his smoke detector going off.

Smith said by the time firemen reached the residence it was pretty much burned down.

The fire started around the utility room in the home, added Smith, but the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

Smith said that firemen were there for about an hour extinguishing the flames.
