Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center is getting a face-lift in the coming year with several new additions taking place for the hospital.

Director of Planning and Marketing Bill Oldham said by 2010 the face of the hospital will be changed drastically.

“We started working in the last couple months with architects for additions to the second floor,” explained Oldham.

Oldham said what they are doing now is meeting with every department, and going over each area’s wish list and trying to meet each area’s needs.

“We are looking toward the end of this year having that wrapped up,” added Oldham.

He said it would take 12-18 months from start to finish to complete the second floor expansion.

Plans are to have the surgery addition to the back of the facility complete by mid-summer of 2008.

This will allow for an expanded recovery area, private offices for hospital staff, and more efficient surgical suites.

Oldham also talked about patient concerns because of Dr. Jarboe and Dr. Skaggs leaving to go to the Veterans Clinic.

“A hospital our size is always recruiting people,” explained Oldham. “We feel pretty comfortable with the addition of the Big Clifty clinic, and with the capacity of some of the other family physicians that we have here.”

Oldham said he does not for see this as a situation where someone is not going to get in to a doctor for medical care.

“It is a bump in the road, but it is not a derailment,” added Oldham.
