City commissioners may see a pay raise in their future for the work they do in Clarkson.

A request was made by commissioners to increase the current rate of $80 per month for each individual sitting on the board to $100 per month.

City Clerk and Treasurer Alicia Hayes said the current compensation rate has not been changed since 2005.

The first reading of this ordinance was approved during the March 10 meeting, but the results will not be official until the second reading is also approved in April.

Commissioner Kay Gibson explained if the motion passes then the raise would become effective in January 2009.

Commissioner Robert Vincent said he has only been on the board for a matter of months, but does feel these individuals do go above and beyond the call of duty.
