Twin Lakes CEO says hospital recruitment is getting tougher

The local hospital has increased the incentive to encourage people to look for jobs in the county.

Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center CEO Stephen Meredith talked about the need for more staffing in the medical field.

“It has become increasingly difficult to recruit healthcare professionals for the hospital,” explained Meredith.

Initially the tuition payment program offered new students reimbursement of money spent for their education, but it was not tax-exempt.

Meredith said a student would agree to work for TLRMC for a specified amount of time, and in turn would have to pay nothing for a degree in a healthcare related profession.

Meredith asked the board to transfer funds from the hospital foundation to the Grayson County Hospital District.

This would make the Healthcare Education Loan tax-exempt for individuals.

The board unanimously voted to pass the motion made by Meredith during the March 6 meeting.
