School board to review price of school meals

The Grayson County Board of Education agreed agreed to review the price of school meals during the regular scheduled meeting on January 10.

The price has not changed in 14 years and the board agree to look at the price to determine if they need to be increased.

After presenting the draft budget for the 2008-09 school year, financial officer Kerry White asked everyone to contact their state representative and ask them to “Please exclude education from the state budget cuts. We are looking at a possible 7% budget cut.”

Carolyn Thomason was reappointed as Chairman of the Board and Valerie Hayes was reappointed as vice chairman for 2008.

Superintendent Barry Anderson recognized the school board members for their support and dedicated service to the students and staff of Grayson County School.

Board members recognized were: Bill Allen, sworn in on 1/14/1993; Carolyn Thomason, sworn in 1/11/2001; Valerie Hayes, sworn in 8/12/2004; Anna Majors, sworn in 4/15/04; and Mona Fulkerson, sworn in 7/13/2006.

He also recognized Gloria Whobery, Food Service Secretary and all the school food service staff for their service to the students and staff.

In a closed session the board discussed a certified employee who had been reprimanded.
