A Big Clifty teen died after a one car accident on Sunday evening, December 23.

According to a sheriff's report,18-year old Anthony Kerr was driving west on Hwy 54 and attempted to pass a vehicle at a high rate of speed on around 5:30 p.m.

Kerr met on oncoming vehicle and attempted to cut back in front of the vehicle he was passing.

The teen over corrected the green 1994 Chevrolet Beretta and lost control of the vehicle, reported sheriff deputy Mike Minton.

The Beretta left the roadway on the left hand side and hit a utility pole splitting it into three pieces and then the vehicle over

turned several times.

Kerr was ejected from the Beretta at some point in the accident and the vehicle came to a final rest on top of the youth, added Minton.

Grayson County Emergency Medical Services transported the teen to the parking lot of the Grayson County High School. They were met by the air transport unit and he was flown to University of Louisville Hospital where he later died.

Two accidents on the Western Kentucky Parkway left two dead and one seriously injured during the holiday season.

Kentucky State Trooper Kevin Henderson responded to an injury accident at the 96 mile marker of the WK Parkway on December 22 around 7 p.m.

According to the police report, Clayton Wharton, 59 of Louisville, was lying in the eastbound lane of the parkway when he was struck by a GMC Sonoma driven by Jason Cummings, 22, of Falls of Rough.

Witnesses to the accident reported they had swerved to avoid hitting Wharton but Cummings was unable to avoid hitting him, reported Henderson.

Wharton was flown to University of Louisville Hospital by the helicopter air ambulance service StatCare where he was listed in critical condition.

Warton's vehicle, which was not involved in the accident, was also at the scene. The Sonoma sustained moderate damage to the undercarriage, added Henderson.

The accident is still under investigation. Kentucky State Police were assisted by Grayson County EMS, Leitchfield FIre Department, and the Grayson County Sheriff's Department at the scene.

In a separate accident a resident of Grayson County and an Ohio County resident were killed in a one car accident on Christmas Eve.

Around 6 p.m. on December 24, Chad Erikson, 31, of Hartford, was driving east on the WK Parkway when for unknown reasons the vehicle went into the median and struck a bridge abutment.

According to Trooper Dennis Oldham the vehicle then overturned and came to a rest on its top.

Erickson was pronounced dead at the scene and both passengers, Ara Grimes, 41, and Amber Grimes, 14, were flown to University of Louisville Hospital by StatCare.

Ara Grimes was pronounced dead at the hospital and the 14- year- old daughter is in stable condition at university.

Odlham reported the cause of the accident was not alcohol related.
