With the campsites decorated for Halloween and offered fun events for all ages, the Spooktacular drew participants from all over Kentucky, who came to enjoy the fun.
The annual Haunted Trail was canceled due to the wet weather but the other events were well attended.
“Considering it has been a wet and dreary week we are thrilled with the turn out,” said event organizer and Recreation Supervisor Sheila Jones.
The fun began on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the hay ride began to roll. The hay ride took the people around the park where all the decorations were displayed. The ride was also used as a way to be transported to and from the activities.
A witch hunt and pumpkin roll were a few of the events that helped make the day fun for the youngsters. The children helped find the witches that had been haunting the park with the one who found the most witches winning a prize. Then the young participants rolled a pumpkin down the hill and tried to keep it on the course.
The costume contest brought children and adults dressed upas everything from a “cereal” killer to a box of puppies for sale. There were so many original costumes and scary costumes that the judges had a hard time deciding on the winners.
Trick-or-Treating began around the campground just before dark as the young ghouls and goblins gathered candy from each campsite.
The fun ended after dark with a bonfire where s'mores were served to the public.
