The seventh-grade girls basketball team found scoring to be a rare commodity again last Tuesday evening as they fell 32-11 to the Lady Suns of Muhlenberg South at Cougar Gym.

The Lady Suns came into the game with a perfect 5-0 record and immediately showed why they were undefeated, holding Grayson County scoreless in the first quarter and taking a 12-0 lead heading into the second period.

Guard Hope Marigny had six of her game-high 12 points in the first quarter as the Lady Suns took a lead they would never give up.

In the second period, South went to some of its bench players and that allowed Grayson County to make a move to get back into the game. With six-footer Maddy Guepet clogging up the middle, the Lady Cougars held the Lady Suns scoreless in the second period.

Guepet scored four of the Lady Cougars' eight second-quarter points as Grayson County trailed by just four, 12-8 at the half.

South brought its starters back in the third quarter, but with Guepet in the middle, they were having trouble running their offense the way they had in the first period. Grayson County scored the first three points of the second half to pull to within a point of the lead at 12-11, but the Lady Suns began to figure things out at that point and held the Lady Cougars scoreless the rest of the way.

South scored the final four points of the third quarter, then scored 16 unanswered points in the fourth to make the game a runaway. The Lady Suns put eight players into the scoring column.

Guepet led Grayson County with six points. Katie Beeler and Taylor Higdon scored two each, while Kailea Gill had one to complete the scoring.
