A bean supper cook off was held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday to kick off the three-day event. It was a chance to give individuals a preview of items up for bid.
A partial list of items is available for viewing at www.grayson-county.org. The broadcast takes place each night from the basement of Wilson & Muir Bank's main branch, which is located at 118 South Main Street. Anyone is welcome to stop by. Individuals can listen to the auction in person.
Bids are also accepted in person. Big Clifty Branch loan officer John Decker said this is a way to show support for the Rotary Club.
“Help the Rotary Club support the great things that we do for the community and worldwide through the Rotary Foundation,” replied Decker. “This is our major fundraiser of the year. We hope you can help us out in any way.”
Any business missed or not contacted is free to still donate if they would like to help.
“Businesses that don't have a product or service that they "sell" will often make cash donations,” explained Decker. “Cash Donations are recognized at the beginning of each hour over the three days.”
Decker said this is a great way to find good deals on quality items and get a jump on holiday shopping.
