Caneyville City Council members were well pleased with this past weekend's Caneyville Homecoming and Community Fair during Monday nights council meeting.

Council members spent considerable time discussing how well the 74th Annual Fair and Homecoming turned out

“We would like to thank the Caneyville Community Club for the good job they did with the fair,” said Caneyville Mayor James Paul Embry. “It was a good fair with good weather and a good parade.”

The Grayson County Detention Center was also recognized for the clean up efforts.

Halloween trick or treating will take place in the City of Caneyville on Wednesday, October 31, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Dale Haney, Director of Area Operations for Mediacom was at the council meeting for the first reading to the Mediacom Franchise Ordinance.

Mediacom offered free internet and basic cable services to the City Hall, the Grayson County Alternative School and Caneyville Elementary School.

The Caneyville Firehouse will also be provided with free basic cable service. There was a question about the company providing a drop box for area residents that would like to pay for services locally.

No decision was made on the drop box.
