The Grayson County golf teams had a successful debut Thursday afternoon with both the boys and girls teams picking up victories in their first match of the season against Warren Central at The Legacy Golf Club.

Sophomore Brad Alexander paced the boys team's 157-201 win with a nine-hole total of 35. Sophomore T. J. Wood shot a 39, while brothers Blake and Grant Collins shot 41 and 42 respectively.

Warren Central brought only one girl golfer, so their score was based on the 61 she shot. Freshman Paige Higdon, who joined the team for the first time last season, shot the low round of the day for the Lady Cougars with a 44. Junior Tessa Nelson shot a 49, while senior Devon Dunn shot 55 and seventh-grader Catey Logsdon had a 58 for a team total of 196.

The Cougar boys also played a JV match and came out on top in that one, 195-269. Eighth-grader Seth Beatty led the way for the JV's with a 46, while sophomore Tyler Lewis shot a 49. Freshman J. D. Majors and Ethan Johnson both shot rounds of 50 to close out the Cougar scoring.

The Cougar golf teams will be back in action this coming Monday and Tuesday. On Monday they will play against Edmonson County, while Tuesday sees them in a three-way match against Caverna and Hart County. Both of those matches will be played at Shady Hollow, in Hart County.
