He was born on May 2, 1920 in Caneyville, Ky., the son of Edney Sr. and Cora Kennedy Higgs.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Willoughby Higgs of Taylorsville; one daughter, Janice Parr of Mt. Washington, Ky.; one brother, Marion Higgs of Caneyville; and one sister, Margaret Mudd of Caneyville. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Loretta Jewell, Anita Montgomery and Ronald Parr; eight great-grandchildren, Cody and Clint Jewell, Danielle, Ashley, Casey and Brooke Montgomery, Katelyn and Carissa Parr.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Dermitt Funeral Home, in Caneyville, with Bro. Joe Watson officiating.
Burial was in the Layman Cemetery.
