Clarkson wants to revive local Lions Club

Clarkson may soon have a night law enforcement patrol and, depending on interest, may revive the city's defunct Lion's Club.

At Monday's (3/12) City Commission meeting, a motion to buy Constable James Anderson a monthly tank of gas in return for nightly patrols in the city was approved.

And Aaron Witten, district governor for Lions International, will be working with Commissioners Tom Livergood and Scotty Gore to measure community interest in a Clarkson Lions Club. The club needs at least 20 potential members to organize.

Representatives from the Clarkson Fire Department asked for and got authority to apply for grants in the coming year. The money, if found, will be used to buy a tanker truck.

The department reported Engine 92, recently bought from Bardstown, has been repaired and has been used on three fire runs. The city's bill for the upgrade came to $1,400.
