A Leitchfield man was taken by ambulance to University of Kentucky Hospital after a 3-vehicle collusion Wednesday (2/15) morning on 259S.

According to Sheriff's reports, Joseph S. Justis, 43, of Anneta Road, Leitchfield, had exited the Western Kentucky Parkway and was traveling south on Hwy. 259. Justis stated he did not see a green Ford Taurus, driven by retired music teacher Jane G. Bratcher, 478 Mulberry Street, Leitchfield, stopped in front of him.

Unable to avoid contact with the Taurus, Justis turned his maroon Ford Taurus to the left and sideswiped the rear driver's side of Bratcher's vehicle. He then struck the Grayson County dump truck driven by Curtis Parks, 47, of Windy Ridge Rd, Caneyville. Parks was traveling north on Hwy. 259.

Sheriff's Deputy Tony Willen reported Parks swerved the truck to the right trying to avoid the maroon Taurus. The truck left black skid marks about six feet before coming to a rest on the bank of south bound lane of the road.

According to Grayson County Emergency Medical Services Justis was transported to Twin lakes Regional Medical Center and later taken to University Hospital in Lexington with injuries described in the report as “incapacatating.” A passenger in Justis' vehicle, Danny Beasley, 30, of Anneta, left the accident by private vehicle.

Both Bratcher's Taurus and the dump truck suffered minor to moderate damage while the maroon Taurus had extreme damage. -- Story and photos by Theresa Dunn
