Operations Manager Tim Clark of Leitchfield, will be there to oversee the refurbishing, he told the Leitchfield City Council Monday night. He said early employment “is expected to be 20-30 people, with anticipated growth of between 200 and 300 employees within two years.”
Clark said he will not have time to take applications himself, “so they are being filled out at the Department of Employment Services, 121 South Heyser Drive here in Leitchfield.”
He said Implast USA is a joint venture by two Hayward, California companies, Injex Industries and Plastikon, who have been manufacturing inject molded parts since 1982.
Injex, he said, is a tier 1 supplier for Toyota and General Motors, and Plastikon is the same, plus a supplier of bio-medical, electronic, industrial and specialty products. The parent companies have offices in Japan, Hong Kong, China and Detroit, he said.
Implast officials said these existing customers will help with plans to expand its customer base to companies like Nissan, Chrysler and others.
“Injex and Plastikon are very excited to be locating the plant in Leitchfield,” company officials said in a news release. “and we feel that this is a win-win for all parties involved.”
They thanked Mayor William H. Thomason and David Bennett, president of the Leitchfield-Grayson County Industrial Foundation “for their help in this move, and we look forward to working in the community.”
Bennett, who was at Monday's council meeting, said the plant location in Leitchfield, “something we've been working on since May, is going to open a lot of doors for us in the coming year with potential job-producing industries.”
