A rain-slick Owensboro Road is listed as the cause of a one-vehicle accident Thursday (10/26) four miles west of Leitchfield.

The driver of the vehicle, Aaron T. Brown, 17, of 13000 Falls of Rough Road, escaped serious injury, but he was taken by ambulance to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center after the wreck.

The sheriff's report indicated Brown's injuries could have been much worse.

The report said the Honda Civic was traveling between 45 and 50 mph when it hit a pool of water. The vehicle hydroplaned, and began to fish-tail before going off the road on the left side.

The car was airborne for about 20 feet, the report continues, before landing in a field. The car jumped over a creek and struck the bank on the other side, doing extensive damage to the front end of the car.

Reports said both airbags in the car deployed on impact. The accident occurred at 4:45 p.m.
