Leitchfield Police are investigating the early-morning death of a Leitchfield man.

During the overnight/early-morning hours Tuesday (Sept. 12) Leitchfield Police officers were dispatched to Fountain View Estates in east Leitchfield after a newspaper delivery person reported to E-911 dispatchers that she had seen a man lying face down in the street.

Leitchfield Police Chief Greg Dennison Tuesday afternoon identified the man as Tommy Lindsey, 29, of Leitchfield.

Dennison said that Lindsey “appears to have been struck by a vehicle” and that police are looking into all the possible causes for Lindsey's death. At press time Tuesday those causes ranged from deliberate to accidental.

“At this point we are looking at all possibilities,” Dennison said.

An autopsy has been scheduled at the state medical examiner's office in Louisville, police said, and a clearer picture of what might have happened to Lindsey is expected to come from that.
