Wax Fire Chief David Strader said Thursday afternoon (June 8) that a fire marshal apparently found tiki torches to blame for the blaze that destroyed the home of Wayne Brown and his two children just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to Strader, a lit tiki torch apparently fell over onto the back porch and ignited Brown's home, which is located at 3355 Wheeler's Mill Road. Firefighters from Wax, Clarkson and Priceville (in Hart County) were on the scene for nearly five hours.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
