Erma Nichols Carter, age 96, of Leitchfield, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

She was born October 31, 1909 in Grayson County, the daughter of I.H. and Emma Ashby Nichols. She was a retired secretary for the Grayson County School System. She was a member of the Leitchfield First United Methodist church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Carter; and two sons, Donald Earl and Fredrick Carter.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carol (Charles L.) Wooden of Leitchfield; four grandchildren, Charles A. Wooden of Louisville, Ky., Greg Carter of Glasgow, Ky., Michael Carter of Russellville, Ky., and Lesley Huffines of Auburn, Ky.; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 15, 2006 at the Leitchfield First United Methodist Church with Bro. Fred Whitmore and Bro. Musial Pearson officiating.

Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Leitchfield.

Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield was in charge of the arrangements.
