The Grayson County Historical Society is looking for a few good schools.

“We're trying to find out how many of the county's one-room schools are still standing,” said President Ken Robinson.

Robinson said the society wants to photograph the schools, then put the photos in the society's research library at the Jack Thomas House in Leitchfield.

“There are a few schools we already know about,” Robinson said. He said Burtle Grove, Edwards, Keller, Laurel Run, Providence, Ready, Rogers Springs, Rock Creek, Stinson, Walnut Grove and Wortham schools remain standing.

“Some of these are now private residences, some are churches, and some are privately owned and used for other things,” he said.

“We feel sure there are more out there somewhere that we've missed,” he said.
