The Grayson County Sheriff's Department reported that Steven W. Johnson, 30, of 303 Indian Valley Road, Falls of Rough, was traveling east on Sulpher Wells Road (about 3 miles east of Leitchfield) when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road and hit some trees.
Johnson told sheriff's deputies investigating the accident that he “closed his eyes for a second and the next thing he knew was that the vehicle was off the road.”
A passenger in the vehicle, Samantha Johnson, 11, reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for treatment of those injuries.
Steven Johnson and three other passengers, an 8-month-old, a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old were reportedly uninjured.
The accident occurred just after 3:30 p.m.
On Tuesday night (Feb. 21), a Leitchfield man sustained only minor injuries after his car struck a tree.
According to the Grayson County Sheriff's Department, the accident took place within the Big Clifty city limits just before 11 p.m.
Josheua M. Boyer, 22, of 309 W. Walnut Street, Lot 8, Leitchfield, was traveling west on U.S. 62 “and while going around a curve he lost control of his vehicle, and the rear of the car (a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire) struck a tree,” the sheriff's department report said.
Boyer was taken to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by private means for treatment of his injuries.
And a Leitchfield woman was taken to a Cincinnati hospital after a two-vehicle injury accident on Friday, February 17.
According to a Grayson County Sheriff's Department report, a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am being driven by Lorena Dupin, 20, of 2568 St. Paul Road, was stopped in traffic on Lilac Road (about 2 miles north of Leitchfield) and preparing to turn left when a vehicle (1991 Lincoln Continental) being driven by Paula B. Doerr, 29, of 2048 Lewis School Road, also traveling south on Lilac and following Dupin's vehicle, “could not stop in time and hit Dupin's car in the rear.”
“A witness at the scene stated that (Dupin's vehicle) did not have her signal on,” the report said.
As a result of the collision, both vehicles reportedly sustained severe damage.
Doerr was taken to University Hospital in Cincinnati (Ohio) for treatment of her injuries, the report said.
Two young children in Doerr's vehicle, ages 2 years old and 7 months old, were reportedly uninjured and not taken to a medical facility.
As for Dupin, she and three other passengers in her vehicle were not injured, according to the sheriff's department report.
The accident occurred just after 6 p.m.
