Allan Peerce, of Leitchfield has announced his candidacy as a Republican for 4th District Magistrate. He released the following statement:

Peerce is the son of Wilbur and the late Jerline Thompson Peerce of Peonia. He has a daughter, Morgan. He graduated from Leitchfield High School in 1972, then attended Bowling Green Technical Institute studying mechanical engineering and commercial art. In 1974, he began working in surrounding industries including Vermont-American, Walter T. Kelley Co., UPS and Campbell-Hausfeld, plus construction for many years before deciding to work for himself in the sign, graphics and art business. Peerce is the 26-year owner-founder of Peerce Signs, Inc., and has been involved in many county projects. As a member of the 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, he served as secretary-treasurer for two years, receiving the state's highest award three years in sales during the Knights of Columbus State Convention Raffle. Peerce was very active as a board member of the Grayson County Agriculture-Recreation Board, serving as secretary-treasurer for two years. He was the chairperson and manager of the first walking horse show held at the Ag and Rec Park. He also coached the girls 16 and under summer softball team for eight years, advancing the girls, the first ever in Grayson, to the World Series of Girls Softball in Midland, Tex., finishing 9th in the world. Peerce founded and served as president of the Attendance Achievement Award for graduating seniors in the county school system. This award began in 1996, and has awarded more than $10,000 to qualifying students to further their education. He believes that Grayson County should support its children and help them further their education. Our children are the future of the county. Peerce believes that he has the business experience and people skills required to be a magistrate, and knows there is a lot more to this job than most people realize. He believes he can work with the other magistrates and the judge-executive in obtaining jobs and keeping the people of the county informed of the activities and happenings throughout the county, be it filling potholes, applying for federal grants or helping bring in new industry.

Carolyn Smith Nuckols announced this week she is a Republican candidate for 2nd District Magistrate. Carolyn is the daughter of the late Latney and Madine Swift Smith. She has three children: Robin Coates Powers, Michael David “Mickey” Coates and Beth Coates Goad, and seven grandchildren. Carolyn is a graduate of Caneyville High School and Elizabethtown Beauty College. She is a licensed beautician and has owned and operated Carolyn's Curling Corner for 25 years. She is an independent contractor at Pattie's Styling Salon in Caneyville. She was elected to the Caneyville City Commission in the late 1970s served a term as Caneyville mayor in the early 1980s. This experience has prepared her to tackle the problems facing the county. She will seek grants and other funding from the state for road upgrades. “If elected, I will always listen and be a strong voice for you. Your problems are my problems, and I promise to do my best to ensure fair and honest governmental services for everyone. I would appreciate your vote and support.

Cyndi Mahurin Lively, of Shrewsbury, has filed her candidacy for Grayson Court Clerk. She is a Republican and released the following statement: I am a life-long resident of Grayson County, the daughter of Elliott Ray and Barbara Logsdon Mahurin of Tousey. My husband is Michael Lively, and we have three children: Blake, 23, Chaz, 12, and Macy Raye, 5. I graduated from Grayson County High School in 1985, then attended Elizabethtown Community College. I later graduated from Trendsetters Academy of Hair. My husband and I are the owners of Lively Hair Salon and Cyndi's Citgo. With my experience at working with the public, office management and working with employees, I will be able to fulfill the duties as your next County Court Clerk to better serve the county. I would appreciate your vote and support on our upcoming election. Thank you.

Michelle Blessitt Smith, Clarkson, announced this week she is a Republican candidate for 5th District Magistrate. She released the following statement in support of her candidacy: I am the daughter of Timmy and the late Tae Blessitt. Having worked tobacco farming, at the local feed mill and tack shop, I know about working for and with the people of the community. I may not be familiar with campaigning or politics, but I do know when people want to be heard. They need someone who isn't afraid to speak up for them. No fancy talk or windy promises. I'm for dedication to improving your 5th District. Thank you for your time, and your vote would be greatly appreciated.
