Slippery conditions on the Western Kentucky Parkway early Wednesday morning (Jan. 18) may have led to an injury accident that sent a Clarkson man to the hospital.

According to Mike Woosley with the Grayson County Sheriff's Department, Eugene Casey, of Haycraft Drive, was eastbound on the WK Parkway (around the 117/118 mile marker) when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle.

Woosley said Casey's white Ford van then flipped over, landing on its top.

After the accident, Woosley said that Casey sustained injuries to his arms and shoulders and was taken by the Grayson County EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

The accident, Woosley said, occurred just before 5:30 a.m.

And several drivers on the Western Kentucky Parkway near the Butler County line Tuesday morning (Jan. 17) were in for a bumpy ride that resulted in multiple flat tires.

Woosley said that a hole in the westbound lane, measuring about a foot deep and the length of his car, caused six cars and a tractor-trailer to bust tires.

According to Woosley, two other vehicles suffered the same fate, however, they managed to fix their flat tires and had already left the scene as he arrived.

As a result of the hole in the roadway, the tractor-trailer struck the guardrail after a tire busted, Woosley said, but was not damaged severely.

In all, nine vehicles suffered busted tires before repair crews made it to the scene, however, no one was injured.
