Blanton said the investigation into the death of Doris Davis, who lived at 43 Hillcrest Drive in Nolin Estates in eastern Grayson County, was continuing on Monday.
According to Detective Blanton, deputies received a gunshot complaint through Emergency-911 around 2 p.m. Friday at the Davis residence.
Blanton said that when deputies arrived at the home they found Davis, 80, suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower chest.
She was flown by Life-Net to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Blanton said, where she was later pronounced dead as a result of wounds suffered in the shooting.
According to Blanton, an autopsy was performed on Saturday (Oct. 22) and results of that autopsy by state authorities have not yet been released.
Blanton said that the investigation is continuing and that at this point in the case, he could not comment on specific evidence relating to Davis' death.
