This is the 72nd annual Caneyville Fair, and it gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 29) with a community worship service held in the old school gym.

The service will feature the Caneyville Youth Choir directed by Nicole Crawford. Special guest speaker is former Kentucky Governor Julian Carroll.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30

Caneyville 5K run starts at 8 a.m. at the Caneyville Family Practice on Sunset Drive.

The parade forms at 9 a.m. at the Caneyville Baptist Church Parking Lot (east Caneyville).

Floats will be judged at 9:30 a.m. and the parade gets underway at 10 a.m.

Games and contests in the area between the old school and post office start at 1 p.m.

At 5 p.m. there will be music including Bluegrass, Country and Gospel. The music will run as long as anyone's listening beside the post office.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1

Tickets and serving at the annual pancake breakfast will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the Caneyville Fire Station.

The baby contest starts at 10 a.m. in the old school gym. Immediately after this contest, the Caneyville princess contest gets underway, also in the gym.

The annual terrapin race begins at 9 a.m. followed by the pedal pull at 10 a.m.

Both are held between the old school and the post office. Other contests follow the pedal pull.

Karaoke, with music by Anthony Hinton of Morgantown, starts at 2:30 p.m.

A revised (new cast, new jokes) Hee Haw gets underway at 7 p.m. with back-up music by the regulars at the Grayson County Opry.

But before that, there is special entertainment by Nicole Crawford, Richard Grant and Dean Jacobs. This begins at 6:30 p.m.
