A Clarkson man has been arrested and charged with burglary and receiving stolen property in connection with the theft of property from T & C Contracting, Inc. out of Louisville.

According to Detective Terry Blanton with the Grayson County Sheriff's Department, Shawn Lee Smith, Jr., 18, of 182 Harmony Lane, Clarkson, was arrested on September 1 by the Leitchfield Police Department.

Through the course of the investigation of Smith, he was later charged by the Sheriff's Department with receiving stolen property (over $300).

Blanton said that the equipment and property Smith allegedly stole has an estimated value of around $6,000.

According to Blanton, some of the items found in the stolen truck belonging to T & C Contracting, for which Smith was arrested by the LPD, included items such as "rotating lasers and other things they used on the job site."

Detective Todd Cave said Friday (Sept. 9) that Smith was arrested and charged by the LPD with theft by unlawful taking (over $300) after he arrested Smith at the Grayson County Fairgrounds on September 1.

The truck, Cave said, was taken from a residence at 504 Hendricks Street in Leitchfield on August 31.

In an unrelated case, Smith was also charged by the LPD with theft by unlawful taking-over $300 (auto) for allegedly stealing a 1995 Chevy Lumina belonging to Michael D. Brooks, of 100 Kegley Drive, Leitchfield, on August 29.
