County FSA offices will receive nominations through Aug. 1. Almost anyone eligible to take part in a local FSA program may be a candidate.
The county FSA Committees help run federal farm programs at the local level.
Farmers who serve on the committees make decisions on such issues as commodity price support loans and payments; allotments, yields and market quotas; conservation programs; incentive, indemnity and disaster payments, and other farm disaster assistance.
Ballots will be mailed to eligible voters on Nov. 4. The last day to return voted and signed ballots to the county FSA office will be Dec. 5.
Elected committee members and alternates will take office Jan. 1, 2006.
Farm owners, operators, tenants and sharecroppers of legal voting age can vote if they are eligible to take part in any FSA program.
Nomination forms and other information are available at county FSA offices or on the FSA Web site at www.fsa.usda.gov.
