A Saturday afternoon (Apr. 2) accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway sent four people, including a 15-month-old infant, to the hospital with serious injuries.

Kentucky State Police reports said that a vehicle being driven by Daryle J. Eaves, 29, of Central City was parked in the westbound emergency lane of the Western Kentucky Parkway near the 116 mile marker, when a vehicle being driven by George E. Howton, of McKenzie, Tennessee, apparently drifted over into the emergency lane and struck Eaves' vehicle in the rear.

Eaves' husband, Aaron, 30, and her 15-month-old infant daughter were also in the car at the time of the collision.

Daryle and Aaron Eaves were taken directly from the scene by Stat-Care and flown to the University of Louisville Hospital.

Their daughter was taken by Life-Net to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville.

The Grayson County EMS transported Howton to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

According to police, the west bound lane of the parkway was closed and traffic was stalled for nearly an hour as emergency personnel with the Kentucky State Police, Grayson County Sheriff's Department, Clarkson Fire Department and Grayson County EMS worked to clear the scene.

The westbound lane was also used as a landing pad for Stat-Care and Life-Net helicopters as they removed those injured critically directly from the scene of the accident, which occurred about 1:30 p.m.
