He was born June 24, 1939, the son of William Eliza and Dorothy Frances Smith Alvey. He was a carpenter, a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, and a member of Falls City Carpenters Union.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Blair) Alvey of Cub Run; two sons, James Carmen and Joseph Wayne Alvey, both of Cub Run; two daughters, Lisa Michelle Alvey and Tammy Jeanette Hoden, both of Clarkson, Ky.; one half-brother, Billie Joe Alvey of Cub Run; three half-sisters, Anna Jean Mattingly of Cub Run, Vickie Ann Sweet and Terri Lee Lasley, both of Leitchfield; and step mother, Wilma Alvey of Cub Run. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 6, 2005 at St. Benedict Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the St. Benedict Cemetery.
Rogers-Oller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
