The Grayson County Health Department has received a shipment of flu vaccine.

A walk-in clinic will be held on Monday, November 29 from 8:15 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Health Department.

Medicaid and Medicare Part B will cover the cost of the vaccine, but you must present your card at that time. For all others, there will be a charge.

Anyone who is disabled and unable to stand in line may have another person register for them.

Only persons with the listed risk factors will be eligible to receive the vaccine.

The criteria for receiving the flu vaccine are:

  • All children 6-23 months of age

  • People 65 years of age and older

  • Anyone 2-64 years of age with long-term health conditions

  • Anyone with a weakened immune system

  • Women who will be pregnant during the flu season

  • Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities

  • Anyone 6 months to 18 years of age on long-term aspirin treatment

  • Healthcare workers involved in direct patient care

  • Household contacts and out-of-home caregivers of infants less than 6 months of age

Everyone else is asked to either not get the vaccine or to wait until these persons have been vaccinated.

Children under 9 years old for whom two doses of the vaccine are recommended should still get two doses, if the vaccine is available.

Healthy persons 5-49 years of age can get the live, intranasal influenza vaccine.

If there are any questions, you can call the health department at (270) 259-3141.
