Since their humble beginnings in 1994 Sixth Floor has built a following that would rival the fan dedication of many nationally touring road shows.

With John King as their lead singer and rhythm guitar player, Jarrod Duke on lead guitar, Wade England on bass, and George Collard on drums, Sixth Floor has proven time and again that they can hold their own with just about anyone.

According to John King, "our musical style is described as heavy southern rock, it is a cross between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Sabbath."

Well-known throughout most of South Central Kentucky, this local band already has several significant achievements.

They have opened for Ratt, played with Betty Blowtorch, Supafuzz, MK Ultra (Doubledrive) and many other national touring acts.

They have also played at the world famous CBGB's in New York, not to mention many other popular clubs in Atlanta, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville, Evansville, Louisville and Lexington.

In addition to performing on a national level, Sixth Floor has also received serious attention from major record label executives from Atlantic, Interscope, Geffen, Island, and Blackheart Records.

Onstage Sixth Floor puts every ounce of energy into their show, making the crowd feel like a fifth member of the band. According to their fans, "they just have this energy about them, and a certain groove that you can really get into."

Attracting a variety of fans from ages six to 60, this band, musically speaking, has a little something for everybody.

At one of their shows you may hear a little bit of country and even some classic rock . In addition to this, they have also introduced an acoustic (unplugged) set into their musical repertoire.

The word "original" best describes the music of this band.

With innovative new lyrics written by King, and the accompaniment music written by the rest of the band members (each one writes their own part) Sixth Floor displays a wealth of natural talent for their audience and die-hard fans.

Offstage, this band in the minds and hearts of many is like family.

They are four hardworking "down home" guys who take the time to make their fans feel welcome.

They always take advantage of the opportunity to show their gratitude to all of their dedicated fans, and even to those who have just heard them for the first time.

With four self-released CD's already under their belt and over 3,000 units sold in a region where country music is predominant, Sixth Floor remains a group who has the drive and desire to do what they love for as long as possible, and that is "to simply play music."

The band will be performing at Calvin Ray's Live Music, located at 5170 Beaver Dam Road, on October 22.

The show is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
