The rates, expected to go into effect after final passage Friday, are 30 cents per $100 value on vehicles, and 19.7 cents per $100 value on property and ad valorem taxes.
Commissioners also agreed to add a charge similar to surrounding cities for copies of police reports -- $5 per copy.
State Rep. C.B. Embry came to the meeting to present a $1,500 Lincoln Trail ADD check to the city. He told commissioners state help with funding the city's sewer upgrade "looks favorable."
He said the amount would be "somewhere between the $130,000 approved in the Senate and the $250,000 approved in the House."
Embry said the failure to pass a budget in the last legislative session held up a compromise on the two versions of assistance.
Commissioners discussed at some length the problem of private citizens moving or covering up water meters and illegally connecting to the city's sewer system.
Cease and desist letters were ordered sent to at least three residents.
Before adjourning, the commissioners asked city residents to clean up homes, yards and businesses before the Caneyville Fair and Homecoming, now scheduled early in October.
