Twenty-six candidates have filed so far to run for local offices in Caneyville, Clarkson, Leitch-field, the Grayson County School Board and as constable.

County Court Clerk Carletta Farris released the filings this week in the order they will appear on the Nov. 2 ballot.

In Caneyville, it is mostly incumbents on the ballot, including Scott L. Majors, Janice P. Minton and Deborah G. Embry. Deborah J. Duke, 117 Walnut Grove, Caneyvillle, will be running for her first full term. The Caneyville City Commission has four seats.

There are eight candidates for Clarkson City Commission, including the four incumbents: Henry J. Johnson, Ken Lashley, David Strater and Carl Ball, all of Clarkson.

Other candidates include Franklin Keith Higdon, 216 Leigh Avenue, Clarkson; W. Leon Miller, Jr., Clarkson; Tom Livergood, 404 Spring Street, Clarkson; and Otley "Red" Helm, Jr. , 118 W. Main, Clarkson.

The Leitchfield City Council has seen two incumbents leaving the council or choosing not to run for new terms.

Kevin Mudd announced earlier this year he would not seek re-election, and Dorothy "Dot" McCall withdrew from the race after she moved to the Leitchfield Utilities Commission as a member.

Nine candidates are still in the running for council seats, including incumbents Wales Montgomery, 108 Sunset Drive, Kelly Stevenson, 302 Wallace Avenue, Brenda Green Huffman, 1208 James Street, and Steve Dennison, 109 Hanging Rock Road.

New names in the council race include Aaron Witten, 130 West Market, Lonnie E. Stone, 1308 Oakhill Drive, William "Billy" Dallas, 19 Boswell Court, Holly Pearl, 50 Cave Mill Court, and Leon Shaw, 112 Valley View Drive.

Four seats on the

Grayson County School Board will be filled in November for either full or to finish terms.

Two incumbents Bill Allen, District 2, 1625 Anneta Road, and Carolyn D. Thomason, District 4, 309 West Walnut Street, are running for another full term.

Two appointed members, Valeria R. Hayes, District 1, 909 Franklin Road, Big Clifty, and Anna D. Majors, District 3, are seeking full terms on the board.

To fill an unexpired term for 3rd District constable, William "Butch" Shroerlucke, 118 Crossridge Drive, Leitchfield, has been nominated by the Republicans to run.

There was no Democrat nominated for this race.

The names listed will appear on the November 2 ballot, but write-in candidates have until 10 days before the election to file (October 22).
