In Circuit Court Tuesday, June 1, Judge Sam Monarch set a pre-trial hearing for Charles Terry, 73, accused of shooting Clarkson Drug Store co-owner Mike Marshall. Monarch set the hearing for Feb. 15, 2005, and a jury trial for March 7-11, 2005.
An embezzlement charge against former County Finance Officer Sharon Vincent is set for a pre-trial hearing December 7.
Monarch set Vincent's jury trial date for April 25-29, 2005.
Vincent, 46, was indicted in early May on 15 counts of theft of public funds.
A State Attorney General's investigation accused Vincent of failing to deduct premiums from county group health insurance from her paychecks and of opening an account at a local bank, diverting county funds to the account, then writing checks for cash to pay personal debts.
The indictment alleges $51,700 was not deducted from Vincent's checks, and the amount taken from the "Grayson County Revolving Fund" was $110,300.
The investigators' report said the funds had been removed from the account from 1992 to 2003. The report also said insurance premiums were not deducted from 1989 through 2003.
Terry was charged with murder and kidnapping after he allegedly shot Mike Marshall in front of Marshall's drug store, then forced a Leitchfield couple at gunpoint to drive him all over Grayson and two adjoining counties.
Terry was arrested April 7 in Hart County at the camper home of Bethel E. Fowler.
The Leitchfield couple, Toby and Amelia Davis, were shaken by the experience, but were not harmed.
Marshall had been shot at close range shortly after 6 p.m. April 6, when he walked out to the parking lot to give Terry change from a purchase, witnesses told investigating officers.
Both Terry and Vincent entered pleas of not guilty at their arraignments.
