Justin Martin

Leitchfield Christian Academy staff has selected first-grader, Justin Martin to receive the LCA PTO Student Spotlight Award. This award is given for achievement in areas such as academics, leadership and spiritual growth.

"Over the past six months, I have watched Justin grow academically, spiritually and in maturity. His grades have continued to rise as he strives for improvement," Mrs. Denise Barrett, first-grade teacher, said.

Mrs. Barrett also noted that Martin has good story writing ability and loves to draw animals.

Martin is a first year Junior Bible Quizzer for the Clarkson Baptist Church. He has already placed in the top ten individually and was a great asset to his team during their recent competition at the Corvette Tournament. Martin recently performed during the first-grade Valentines Party by playing his guitar. He has been taking lessons since October 2004 and is doing very well. Martin enjoys playing basketball in his free time.

Martin is the son of Curtis and Susan Martin of Leitchfield and the grandson of Roy and Betty Martin of Leitchfield and Nancy Haycraft of Louisville. He also has one great-grandmother in Leitchfield, Elizabeth Watson.

Dylan Burkhead

Leitchfield Christian Academy staff has selected second-grader, Dylan Burkhead to receive the LCA PTO Student Spotlight Award. This award is given for achievement in areas such as academics, leadership and spiritual growth.

When asked to describe Burkhead, Mrs. Judy Miller, second-grade teacher said, "He is very thoughtful of other people's feelings and wants to do what is right. The love he has for God shines in his face. He enjoys doing his best and has great ideas to share with others. When Dylan sees a way to be of assistance, he jumps in enthusiastically and helps with a smile. He is a joy to be around."

Burkhead is in his third year as a LCA Junior Bible Quizzer. He is a team player with a great attitude. JBQ Coach, Jerry Dunaway said, "Dylan never gets discouraged and always steps up to the challenge for our team." Dylan has been involved in Tai Kwondo for the last year and a half. He likes to spend his free time playing his Gameboy.

Burkhead is the son of Robert and Michelle Burkhead of Leitchfield and the grandson of Katie Barnes of Bardstown.
