The Cougar softball team began its season on the stroke of midnight last Sunday morning with its second annual "Midnight Madness" workout. Head Coach John Skaggs split the Cougars into two squads and they went at each other in head-to-head drills featuring bunting and hitting skills. Parents on hand for the event were treated to drawings in which they were awarded Cougar

T-shirts, caps and visors. At left: Jordan Clemons took the first swing off a tee right at midnight, the earliest moment the Kentucky High School Athletic Association allows teams to begin official workouts. Below left: Jenna Cantway (left) comforted Beth Schultz, who was the first casualty of the new season when she slightly pulled a muscle in her leg running before the workout began. Below: Desiree Waterman (left) and Allison Alvey shared a quiet moment.
