The Grayson County School Board is asking parents for their preferences on the 2004-05 school calendar.

At it's January meeting, the board gave tentative approval to a calendar that has school starting on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 and ending May 20, 2005. Students are required to spend 175 days in the classroom.

Here is the schedule for the first semester:

  • Monday, Sept. 6 is a holiday.

  • Fall intersession begins on Wednesday, Sept. 29 and runs through Friday, Oct. 1.

  • Fall break starts on Monday, Oct. 4 and runs through Friday, Oct. 8.

  • School will be closed Monday, Nov. 1 and Tuesday, Nov. 2 (Election Day).

  • Thursday, Nov. 25 is Thanksgiving, and there is no school. Students will be off the following day (Nov. 26) but teachers will have a professional day.

  • Christmas break will begin Monday, Dec. 20, and students will return to school on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005.

    Here are the two options:

_______ I like the calendar as presented.

_______ I would like students to be off the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 24) and add a Saturday session to the intersession dates (Thursday, Sept. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 2)

Clip and send to Grayson County School District, Attn: Nancye Hack, 909 Brandenburg Rd., Leitchfield, 42754 or e-mail nhack@grayson.k12.ky.us.
