Letters to the Editor: Federal judiciary gets blame for eroding Christian freedoms

For a great number of years now, the Christian people of America sat idly by as the federal judiciary has violated their constitutional rights of free speech and religion.

Our ministers and priests have not acted courageously on behalf of the god who has called them to "stand in the gap."

The Supreme court of the United States has agreed to give a hearing to the case of the courageous Judge Roy Moore, chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.

Shall we stand with this ardent proponent of godly values, or will we shrink from the field as lily-livered cowards?

If we choose the latter, we will have opted to hide behind the precepts of Mammon and political correctness.

I believe I already know how the people who read this letter will respond: May God prosper and favor our commitment to the battle for His ten commandments.

Consider these words of Judge Roy Moore:

"Before the federal district court here in Montgomery sits a bust of the Greek goddess Themias.

"You won't find federal authorities scurrying around to conceal that bust behind a screen.

"And neither should we hide the truth any longer. I will not violate my oath, I cannot forsake my conscience, I will not neglect my duty.

"And I will never deny the God upon Whom our laws and country depend." -- Carole A. Brenner, Louisville.
