The Lady Cougars were clearly the superior team on the floor, though they had a difficult time pulling away from the lady Wildcats (1-3). Grayson County had nine empty trips during the first period, but the defense held Edmonson County scoreless. They led 5-0 as play started in the second period.
The Lady Cougars got a little better production out of their offense in the second period and led 12-8 at the half. They led by as many as eight points in the third quarter, but the Lady Wildcats scored the last four points of the period and trailed by four, 18-14 heading into the fourth quarter.
Edmonson County scored the first basket of the fourth period to cut the lead to two points, but Grayson County outscored them 7-1 in the closing moments to put the game out of reach.
Freshman Jara Vega Velez led all scorers in the game with six points for the Lady Cougars. Cindy Langley and Tasha Farris had four each and Rebecca Meredith had three. Alex Powell, Teryl Davis and Heather Baxter had two apiece to round out the Lady Cougar scoring.
