Cougar 7th-graders pound Wildcats 50-19

LEITCHFIELD -- The Cougar seventh-graders got scoring from 12 different players as they ran away and hid from the visiting Edmonson County Wildcats 50-19.

The Cougars (5-0) scored 12 straight points before the Wildcats (0-7) got on the board. They led 17-2 after the first period and 29-8 at the half.

Alphonso Soto was the only player to reach double figures, leading all scorers with 10 points.

Wes Smith had nine points for the Cougars and newcomer Andre Calhoun had six. Tyler Saltsman hit the only three-pointer of the game and finished the night with five points.

Stephen Jones and Adrian Board finished with four points apiece, while Johnathan Higdon and Adam Preston had three each.

Bennett Skaggs scored two points, while Jacob Clemons and T. J. Wood had one each to round out the Cougar scoring.

The middle school boys will be in action again this Monday night as they travel to take on the Muhlenberg North Stars. game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
