The county committee election is underway for community B. Charles Edwards is currently representing area B on the Grayson County FSA Committee. This is the western third of Grayson County. If you live in this area you should be receiving a ballot in the mail soon. In order to be eligible to vote you must be an owner, operator, tenant or sharecropper on a farm in this area and of legal voting age. Power of attorneys cannot be exercised to vote on someone's behalf. Ballots are due in the FSA county office by Monday, Dec. 1, 2003.

The ballots will be opened on Wed., Dec. 3, 2003. You will notice there is only one person listed on the ballot. According to FSA Election Procedures if at least one nomination is received, then no additional nominees are added to the ballot. Please vote by circling the name on the ballot or write in the name of the person you wish to vote for. A write-in candidate must be an eligible voter in Community B. After completing your ballot, place the ballot in the blank envelope. Place the blank envelope (with the enclosed ballot inside) inside the signature envelope. Please be sure to sign the envelope. Unsigned envelopes will not be counted. Ballots are also available at the county office if you did not receive one in the mail. Please take this opportunity to participate in the public selection of your county FSA policy-makers. On another subject, USDA-Rural Development can provide assistance for certain repairs to your home with a 504 loan program. A few examples are a leaking roof, replacement of a worn-out furnace, and installation of a septic system.

For more information on eligibility for the 504 loan program, contact USDA Rural Development @ 270-769-1555.
