An Eastview man and his estranged wife were fatally shot Sunday, Oct. 26, the result of an apparent murder-suicide, that also left the couple's 3-year-old son seriously wounded.

KSP Detective Norman Chaffins reported Ricky DeWayne Risner, 30, of 1071 Webb Mill Road, Eastview, was found dead of a .45 caliber gunshot wound in front of the couple's apartment at 505 Sunset Drive.

His wife, Jennifer A. Risner, 31, Leitchfield and a second-grade teacher at Clarkson Elementary School, was pronounced dead at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, the result of a gunshot wound from the same handgun.

The couple's son, Jacob Avery Risner, also seriously wounded, was flown to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Chaffins reported, after he was taken by ambulance to Twin Lakes.

Leitchfield Police responded to neighbors' complaints about hearing gunshots about 7:30 p.m., and they told police the couple had been involved in a domestic dispute.

State Police reports said witnesses told police Risner fired a handgun at his wife and son before turning the gun on himself.

Investigators thought the child was shot, then the mother before Risner turned the gun on himself. Five rounds had been fired.

Ricky Risner was pronounced dead at the scene by the Grayson County Coroner, and Jennifer Risner was pronounced dead at the local hospital.
