Good things happen in a community when people work together, and hopefully this has never been more evident than with Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center's current expansion project.
As of June 1, a significant portion of our hospital's parking area became unavailable because of excavation leaving us with the dilemma of how to provide adequate parking spaces, not only for our patients and their families, but our employees as well.
To help us resolve this issue, the City of Leitchfield graciously allowed us to use the parking area next to the softball fields at the James D. Beville Park, and the First Baptist Church of Leitchfield, generously loaned us one of their vans to assist in the transportation of our employees to and from the park to the hospital.
During the period between June 1 and the substantial completion of our parking area on Oct. 24, which again allows our employees to park on our campus, we estimate that in excess of 11,000 people had to be transported to and from the city park.
This monumental undertaking could not have been done by us alone.
On behalf of the employees, the Board of Directors and the medical staff of Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, we want to publicly acknowledge and thank the City of Leitchfield and the First Baptist Church for their tremendous assistance and cooperation during our current endeavor to expand our community's hospital facilities.
This experience has been a classic example of neighbors helping neighbors.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. -- Stephen L. Meredith, chief executive office, Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
