Clarkson City Commiss-ion heard a last reading and passed the ad valorum tax rates for the city Tuesday night in regular session. Real estate tax is 8.27 per $100 and tangible tax is 10.18 per $100.

The tax is due on Nov. 30, 2003 and those paying before will receive a two percent discount.

Residents who pay between Dec. 1 and Dec. 31 will owe the full amount, after Dec. 31 a five percent penalty will be added and after Jan. 31 the penalty will increase to 10 percent with 12 percent interest tacked on.

A first reading of property taxes was read. Real property tax rates will decrease from 9.17 per $100 in 2002 to 8.27 per $100. A collection rate of 100 percent will net the city over $16,800.

The personal property tax also decreased to 10.18 per $100 from the 2002 rate of 10.9 per $100. With a 100 percent collection rate, the city will net over $4,700 on this tax.

Clarkson Commissions set the trick-or-treat hours for Friday, Oct. 31 between 5 - 8 p.m.

In other business, a motion was made to add a gate at the city park which would be opened in the morning and closed at night.
