According to the Department of Labor, unemployment rates in Kentucky dropped to 5.2 percent in August from the 5.9 percent reported in June, 2003.

Grayson County's rates also dropped to 8.4 percent, from 9.9 percent in June.

Every county in the Lincoln Trail District had lower rates than the July reports, except Meade County, which stayed the same at 5.6 percent.

The district is fairly consistent in the month of August, only five/tenths of a point difference between 2002 and 2003.

Grayson County still has the highest rate in the district, with Marion County having the lowest rate at 3.7 percent.

Other counties in the district were: Breckinridge County with 6.3 percent; Hardin County with 5.0 percent, Larue County at 3.8 percent, Nelson County at 5.2 percent and Washington County at 4.5 percent.
