One man was killed in an accident on Hwy. 62 west of Caneyville, Saturday, July 19 just before 2 p.m.

According to a report from Kentucky State Police reconstructionist Trooper John Clark, a dump truck driven by James R. Smith of Brownsville, Ky., came upon traffic caused by a tractor heading east on Hwy. 62. Smith said he applied the brakes, but because the truck was empty, it started "cat-hopping" which caused the vehicle to swing out of control on the highway. The truck slid into a motorcycle traveling west, driven by William E. Wilson of Caneyville.

Wilson was killed instantly. A juvenile passenger on the motorcycle was critically injured and transported by Grayson County EMS and by StatCare to University of Louisville Hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition, according to hospital personnel.

Also responding to the accident with Trooper Clark and G.C. EMS, were Trooper Seth Payne, Caneyville Police and Fire Departments and Grayson County Coroner Ronald Hudson.
